I'm not really sure what I deserve this year. I guess you would know that better than I do? But I'm honestly not even sure what I should want. I guess I've been pretty good. I've been a friendly traveler, a diligent student, and advocate for change, a grateful daughter, sister, and friend. I'm sure I've had my coal-filled moments.

A Dose of Empowerment

Yesterday I bought a flask. I'm not a big drinker, and I don't plan on covertly spiking any punch bowls, but that particular style of flask had caught my attention at the same artisan's table about a month earlier. It's bound in leather stained a deep cool purple, with ornamental metalwork and inset rose decoration on the front, and strikes me as simply beautiful. I thought to myself: this is something handcrafted by a local artist, it's unique, it's something that I've never bought before, plus it's in my favorite color.

Surprising Summer Respite

After a week of classes, activities, seeing old friends, and making new ones, I can honestly say that I'm glad to be back at Harvard for the summer.  Admittedly I was not initially very excited to be taking summer classes. I would be back at the place that had been the bed of so much stress, worry, and sleepless nights during the school year - the place from which I had been so eager to take a break.

Being Back

Being Back

At first I was honestly not excited to be back on campus. The sunny serenity of beautiful Buenos Aires left nothing to be desired from the stressful Harvard winter that I knew awaited me. Nevertheless, I convinced myself to look forward to a new beginning of a new semester.

I was surprised at how warmly people greeted me, and how many people had remembered that I had been away. It makes you feel like you're a part of a community...
