Intersectionality with Rowan Ellis

I’m turning my intersectionality videos into a series! Rowan gave me the suggestion, so I was delighted to be able to sit down with her at VidCon and have her in the second installment. In this conversation, Rowan talks about how the intersection of her identities as a queer woman has affected her experience, as well as influencing how her mental health is perceived.

Rowan also gives her perspective on conversations that could be aided by increased intersectionality, and ways she’s learned about identities outside her own. Give it a watch!

We also talked specifically about representation in media, and Rowan mentioned a story that she found particularly enlightening as far as understanding her own privilege. I didn’t have time to include it in the main video, so here’s a bonus!

I’m so glad that I got to link up with Rowan at VidCon. She’s so incredibly smart and talented and has a great library of videos about feminism, sexuality, gender, and pop culture. Be sure to check out the video we did on her channel as well!
